By: Amal Elwy

As the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the African Union approaches, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting attended by the African ambassadors accredited to Egypt to discuss the arrangements of the celebration to be held on this occasion during the period from May 15 to 25, taking place in Cairo and Aswan.
Dr. Iman Najm, the head of the Department of External Cultural Relations, confirmed that the General Administration of International Organizations coordinated with the Cultural Production Sector and the Artistic House of Theater, allowing the Reda Troupe for Folk Arts to participate in its artistic performances in the “Africa Day” celebration on May 17 at the Egyptian Museum of Civilization. She added that the Egyptian state pays great attention to the affairs of the African continent, and the Egyptian Ministry of Culture plays its role in this regard, as Egyptian culture represents a pivotal factor in deepening the roots of cooperation and cultural exchange between Egypt and its African neighbors. The celebration is expected to receive significant attention from the media and those interested in African affairs. It is worth noting that May 25 is “Africa Day,” when African countries celebrate the establishment of the African Union every year. The early founders of the Organization of African Unity contributed to putting the African continent on the path to independence, progress, and development.
