The situation in Afghanistan is normalizing

by: Hazem Ando

Representatives of the SCO and CIS member states, working structures of the CIS bodies, and delegations of international organizations are addressing events as part of the Tenth International Scientific and Practical Conference of the RATS SCO and the Second CIS Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism in Uzbekistan.
The head of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS member states, Evgeny Sysoev, mentioned in his speech a noticeable decrease in the level of terrorist activity in Afghanistan.

He noted the active work of the Afghan authorities to normalize the situation, combat odious terrorist groups, and the desire to strengthen external borders to reduce the infiltration of militants of international terrorist organizations from regional conflict zones.

At the same time, a high degree of threat from the Islamic State – Khorasan Province group was pointed out, which is actively processing the population, aimed at radicalizing society, inciting hatred towards government structures, as well as interracial, interethnic and interfaith hostility.

The fact that it includes many people from the post-Soviet states makes it urgent to consolidate the efforts of the special services of the CIS and SCO countries to combat this group and other international terrorist groups.
