FAO Conference in Samarkand calls for more cooperation to protect global food security

Samarkand( Uzbekistan) –
At the conclusion of the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) international conference on food security in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, participants called for further technical and technical cooperation to protect World Food Security and address acute food shortages at the global level.
Almost 100 representatives of companies from 26 countries took part in the conference, their discussions covered ways to activate global cooperation in the field of food, as well as the experience of effective reforms in the agricultural sector carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, ongoing projects, plans for the future..
For his part, the minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov stressed the further development of international cooperation in the agricultural sector, the need to learn from the experience of developed countries, contribute to ensuring food security through the wider use of modern technologies.
FAO Director-General Zhu dunyu noted that the conference was held at a high level, and many valuable proposals and initiatives necessary for the development of the food industry were presented.he also stressed that the adoption of the Samarkand declaration is an important event in Fao’s activities.
Following the plenary session of the investment forum, two B-2B and G-2b meetings were held. Representatives of business circles from about 30 countries exchanged experiences. Several agreements were reached through which direct investments, funds from international financial institutions and grants will be attracted, relevant documents were signed.
A scientific forum entitled” research and innovation in agriculture in Central Asia and the Caucasus”was held. The participants of the conference got acquainted with the activities of enterprises producing agricultural products in the Samarkand region and visited cultural monuments that are a symbol of traditional Uzbek hospitality.
The conference was held at the international tourist center of the Great Silk Road in Samarkand, which has become a landmark of the ancient city.
