Sisi: Strong nation states, joint Arab action to confront crises facing Arab World

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed that the key to resolving regional crises is preserving the system of the nation-state and its institutions and underlined the joint Arab action to address crises facing the Arab World.

In his speech at the 32nd Arab Leaders Summit on Friday, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s long-standing position of supporting the two-state solution with a Palestinian state established on the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.

“We have followed with sorrow and pain the escalation in various crises including what happened in the Gaza Strip, El-Sisi said.

The Egyptian president also urged a quick resolution to the crisis in Sudan, warning of dire conseqences for the region from any protracted conflict.

El-Sisi also welcomed the return of Syria into the Arab League as a necessary step toward finding a settlement to the crisis in the country and ending the suffering of its people.
