The Red Sea Governorate seeks to localize projects of a sustainable nature that are established by exploiting the available resources and wasted energies, in order to achieve profitability in addition to providing job opportunities for the people of the Red Sea.
The “Jojoba Cultivation” project is considered one of the pioneering future projects due to the maximum benefit of this plant known as “green gold”, which is used in many pharmaceutical and aromatic industries, in addition to the use of jojoba oils as a biofuel for aircraft, which makes it of great financial return, and is included in the national wealth. Which we pay attention to in the Red Sea Governorate.
The “Egypt Now” portal highlights, in the following lines, the most important information about the jojoba cultivation project in the Red Sea Governorate.
The “Jojoba Cultivation” project was built on an area of 2000 acres using treated sewage water in the Red Sea Governorate.
– 90% of the internal roads in Jojoba Farm have been completed, and the Red Sea Governorate is racing against time in order to complete the second stage as soon as possible.
-Jojoba cultivation is one of the large economic projects that generate a large income for the state.
– Jojoba cultivation contributes to providing a decent life and sustainable development and works to provide and create multiple job opportunities to employ high percentages of the current population, given the labor intensity required for jojoba cultivation.
An oil press plant is being implemented to increase the added value of the cultivated crop and achieve an economic return from selling jojoba oil, and using the resulting oil as an environmentally friendly biofuel.
The environmental benefits of jojoba trees are that they resist the intensity of winds and the encroachment of sand dunes and are tolerant to various stresses and a new and renewable source of clean energy.
Cultivating an acre of Jojoba annually releases the equivalent of 137.5 tons of oxygen and sequesters the equivalent of 22 tons of carbon dioxide.
It is noteworthy that the jojoba cultivation project is being implemented in light of the activated cooperation protocol between the Red Sea Governorate and the Upper Egypt Development Authority, which was signed in October of last year 2021, with the aim of benefiting from the establishment of agricultural projects by investing in the cultivation of oily plants.
