President El-Sisi Meets the Prime Minister and the Minister of Environment 

Yesterday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, and Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said that during the meeting the President followed-up on efforts to develop the environmental sector, which focused on several aspects, primarily reducing pollution, preserving natural resources as well as encouraging environmental investments and green economy systems.

The Minister of Environment offered an overview of efforts underway to curb industrial and environmental pollution; the management of construction and demolition waste in line with the best international practices; and efforts to achieve progress in facilitating approval procedures for industrial, tourism and technological projects, taking into account the highest relevant global environmental standards. Minister Fouad also showcased the general strategy for preserving the diverse natural protectorates Egypt is endowed with, and reviewed work progress in their management and efforts to support their sustainable development plans so as to promote environmental and green tourism, particularly in the protectorates of Nabq, Ras Mohammed, Wadi El Rayan and El Hassana Dome.

President El-Sisi stressed the need to achieve integration and strike a balance between efforts to improve the environment system and the state’s strategy for the rational management of the environmental systems and natural resources. The President underlined the importance of boosting projects aimed at protecting and developing natural protectorates, and of increasing environmental awareness in society. The President was also keen on following-up on the climate change dossier and on efforts to continue the positive momentum resulting from Egypt’s hosting of the World Climate Summit, COP27. President El-Sisi gave directives to further strengthen the ongoing collaboration with the Emirati side in preparation for the UAE’s hosting of the next World Climate Summit at the end of this year.
