A Monument to Abu Rayhan Beruni erected in Washington

A solemn opening ceremony of the bust of the great scientist and thinker Abu Rayhan Beruni took place in front of the Uzbekistan Embassy in Washington.
Guests of the ceremony were introduced to the life and work, the priceless scientific heritage of Abu Rayhan Beruni, and his role in the history of world civilization. It was noted that the monument’s opening glorifies the Uzbek scientist and symbolizes strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.

At the event, Frederick Starr, a member of the Scientific Council of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, made a report on the contribution of Abu Rayhan Beruni to the development of world civilization.

He noted that Abu Rayhan Beruni put forward the hypothesis about a continent located overseas 500 years before Christopher Columbus discovered America.
