President El-Sisi’s Speech on the World Health Organization’s 75th Anniversary
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi delivered a speech a while ago during the celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization, during which he stressed that health security will never be achieved by isolated individual action, but rather requires a coordinated collective effort.
The President’s Speeches
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”
Dr. Tedros Adhanom
Director-General of World Health Organization
It gives me pleasure to join you today in celebrations, marking the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization.
The celebration this year comes after difficult times the world has gone through, under the weight of the Coronavirus pandemic.
These were the times that proved that health security will never be achieved through isolated individual action, but rather requires coordinated and collective efforts.
Therefore, I call on the leaders of the world to work diligently toward investing in health, as one of the major priorities at the international level.
History attests to a track record of fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the World Health Organization.
Egypt was honored, since the middle of the last century, to host the Headquarters of the WHO’s Regional Office, which supports healthcare activities for more than 500 million citizens in 22 states in the Middle East.
I would also like to highlight the cooperation between Egypt and the organization in the elimination of Hepatitis C virus in Egypt, within the framework of the “100 Million Health” initiative, which the WHO considered as an unprecedented initiative, in terms of its massive scale and the quality and speech of its implementation.
This leading initiative expanded to include a number of African and Asian countries, thus invigorating Egypt’s role and responsibilities toward the international community.
These and other efforts represent a clear example of our deep belief in the importance of health solidarity, and of our full commitment to enhancing and protecting public health, and promoting the principles of equality and justice that achieve, for all humanity, sustainable health security.
Thank you
May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you
