President El-Sisi Meets the President of the European Commission on the sidelines of the G20 Summit

Yesterday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said President El-Sisi and the President of the European Commission expressed mutual appreciation for the outstanding Egyptian-European relations. They underscored interest to further advance and deepen the traditional Strategic Partnership between Egypt and the EU, taking into consideration the fact that both sides share the Mediterranean regional neighborhood, and the important impact this geographic position had historically on extending bridges of cultural, commercial and political communication between Egypt and the European continent.
The meeting followed-up on progress in the various aspects of the two sides’ relations. President El-Sisi looked forward to further strengthening cooperation with the EU, based on the principle of “Mutual Benefit and Common Interest”, and as a cornerstone for regional integration and stability. The President confirmed that the EU is a key partner in the modernization process underway in the various development sectors in Egypt, including mega infrastructure projects, energy projects and green transition. President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, underscored the importance of the “EU-Egypt Partnership Priorities Document 2021-2027”, as a vital framework for deepening the Egyptian-European Partnership in the coming years across all fields.
