Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs on European Affairs Ihab Nasr and Czech First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Kozák co-chaired an expanded session of talks in Cairo on Friday 14/07/2023.

According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry, Nasr stressed the importance of the meetings as an essential mechanism for following up on the outcomes of political consultations, contributing to the exchange of views and perspectives with the Czech side on all bilateral, regional, and international files.

The meeting focused on consolidating political and economic ties between the two countries, as well as the necessity of expanding bilateral relations and increasing joint collaboration by defining clear targets, the statement read.

Plenty of opportunities for trade and investment cooperation can be offered by forming an integrated economic partnership based on increased communication between businessmen and investors in the two countries, with the view to identifying investment opportunities in Egypt and the Czech Republic, Nasr said.

The meeting also tackled Egypt’s efforts to combat illegal immigration, energy, food and economic security, the Middle East peace process, and the situation in Sudan and Libya.
