President El-Sisi Meets President of Iraq Rashid

Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the two Presidents exchanged views on a number of Arab and regional issues of mutual interest, notably the current developments in the Gaza Strip. The Iraqi President expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in efforts to settle the grave crisis on both the political and humanitarian tracks. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to push for a ceasefire and allow access for humanitarian aid. The two sides agreed on the vital need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in this regard through intensive efforts to contain the situation and avert the expansion of the scope of the violence. They also stressed the imperative importance of relaunching the peace process and implementing the principle of the two-state solution so as to achieve justice, security and stability for the peoples of the region.
President El-Sisi and the Iraqi President also discussed ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries across all economic and political fields, particularly through reinforcing the tripartite cooperation with Jordan as well as the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.
