In a new achievement for Egyptian women that reflects their regional and international status, Dr. Amani Abu Zeid – Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization – of the African Union, was once again chosen as one of the most famous and reputable African personalities for the year 2023, in the list issued by the “International Reputation” survey company. Dr. Amani Abu Zeid is considered one of Egypt’s great women, and reflects the status and capabilities of Egyptian women in the world of politics and business, as she has international experience in economic and social development,and about Dr. Amani Abu Zeid, she is the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Informatics and Energy of the African Union, and she was elected to this position twice by African Heads of State and Government to assume responsibility for regional and continental strategies, policies and partnerships.

Dr. Amani Abu Zaid’s practical experience in the field of international development spans more than 30 years, as she has held many leadership positions in major international institutions concerned with development programs, especially in the field of infrastructure and energy.

Dr. Abou Zeid leads many regional and continental initiatives and programmes. She launched the unified African air transport market, the unified African energy market, and the first African digital transformation strategy. She also prepared the second ten-year program for developing infrastructure in Africa for African integration within the framework of the African Union strategy. Agenda 2063.

Dr. Amani Abu has previously managed the largest operational portfolio of the African Development Bank, and implemented development programs in many sectors at the national and continental levels, including the implementation of the largest solar power plant in the world.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Cairo University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the French International University for African Development, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, and a PhD in Economic and Social Development from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
