President El-Sisi Speaks with UK Prime Minister
Yesterday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak.
Spokesman for the Presidency Counselor Ahmed Fahmy said the call touched on developments of the Sudanese crisis and coordination of efforts between the two countries in this regard. The British prime minister noted Egypt’s essential role in maintaining peace and security at the regional level, in addition to being one of the most important and active neighboring countries of Sudan, where the current crisis represents a serious challenge to stability in the entire region.
President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Sunak expressed deep concern over the escalation of violence and fighting in Sudan, which expose civilians to great and growing risks, while addressing efforts to evacuate the nationals of the two countries from Sudan.
President El-Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to encourage all parties to reach a ceasefire and put an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people, stressing the need to positively deal with all efforts to reach calm and activate dialogue and the political track, with the aim of sparing Sudan the catastrophic consequences of this conflict on its stability and capabilities.
