FM calls for political solution to Russian-Ukrainian crisis
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called for a political solution to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, which has had serious impacts on developing countries, including Egypt.
Shoukry’s call came during his meeting here on Tuesday 31/1/2023 with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Talks between Shoukry and Patrushev tackled means of fostering Egyptian-Russian relations, in a way that achieves the two countries’ interests, as well as strengthening cooperation in implementing major projects in Egypt, notably El-Dabaa nuclear plant and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the spokesman added.
In this context, the pair showed interest in organizing celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Egypt and Russia in August 2023.
The spokesman noted that Patrushev briefed Shoukry on the developments of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue consultations via different bilateral channels to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
