FM to head to Ankara on Thursday

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will leave for Ankara on Thursday13/4/2023 upon an invitation from his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

In a press release on Wednesday12/4/2023, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zaid said the visit aims to continue discussions related to the path of normalizing relations between Egypt and Turkey.

The two sides had talks in March during the Turkish foreign minister ‘s visit to Cairo, the spokesman said, adding that they also held consultations on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Upon the arrival of Shoukry in Ankara, the two ministers will hold a closed bilateral meeting, the spokesman further noted.

Following the meeting, an expanded discussion session will be held, with the delegations of the two countries attending, the spokesman said.

The two ministers will also hold a joint press conference following the talks, the spokesman concluded.
