Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad called for intensifying the efforts exerted between Egypt and Jordan with regard to environment protection and the sound management of several environmental projects.

Fouad’s call came during his meeting here on Sunday with Jordanian Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh, according to a statement released by the Jordanian Ministry of Environment.

She commended Jordan’s key role in achieving the goals of sustainable development, notably the implementation of green projects that contribute to mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Fouad also praised Jordan’s commitment to its international pledges on environmental issues.

The two sides exchanged views on the most important environmental issues of common concern and the promotion of bilateral cooperation, as well as the efforts made by Cairo and Amman to face the pressing environmental challenges, specifically in terms of the measures to confront climate change and move to the green economy, the statement added.

The pair also probed cooperation in managing natural reserves, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries in this area, the statement noted.

On his part, the Jordanian minister underlined the importance of fostering joint cooperation and coordination between the two countries, in a way that guarantees sustainability in executing environmental projects.

Radaideh lauded Egypt’s success in hosting the UN Climate Change Conference, COP27, held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Shiekh in last November.
